J K Rowling
The highly successful series of books about the mischievous Harry Potter has catapulted their author, JK Rowling to the very top of the literary elite.

J K Rowling moved to Tutshill Nr Chepstow, at the age of nine, her full name is Joanne Kathleen Rowling.

It had always been a dream of Joanne's parents to live in the countryside, both being Londoners. This dream was fulfilled upon their move to Tutshill. In an article "The Note Especially Fascinating Life So Far of JK Rowling", published on the internet, Joanne recalls spending most of her time 'wandering unsupervised across the fields and along the rive Wye' with her sister Di.

The remoteness and unspoilt natural beauty of the Forest of Dean District can be described as magical. It is these images Joanne may be recalling in some of Harry Potter's adventures, such as when Harry has to venture into the dense, dark forest !

When Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was bought and published by Bloomsbury in 1997 her life changed dramatically, the Harry Potter series has since then won numerous awards and become a tremendous success around the world.
